When I-

As a little kid you always said “When I grow up”.
That journey of growing up is done now. You’re finally able to drive, you’ve been waiting for your 16th birthday.
It’s here, why don’t you want it as badly as you did at the age of 12?

You’re at the age that you kept thinking would take forever to arrive at.

You can drink now, aren’t you happy? You don’t have to sneak a sip of your parents drinks.
You can do it on your own… alone.

It isn’t as exciting as you thought it would be? You still want to grow up, so exciting.
Now you can do whatever you want, the wait is over.

Isn’t the wait over? Isn’t the childhood you happy? It wasn’t long enough now that it’s done, right?

Everything has happened a few dozen times, it’s boring you now?

Is it going to fast? So fast that you just want it over with? Don’t like the wait.

You wasted your wait.. You can’t go back.
What were you doing during the wait?
Being older then your named age perhaps?

Now that you’ve said “When I grow up”
and now that you are grown up.. how old are you now as a “grown up”?

But as a grown up, you still say “When I grow up”.

When I grow up… I’ll be grown and still want to grow up.
But the child is gone.
